[NEWS] Kim Hyun Joong focuses energy on City Conquest

Singer and actor Kim Hyun Joong will return to Korea and keep busy doing his schedules.

Kim released his Japanese debut EP in January and kept busy holding concerts in foreign countries.

He toured five Asian countries, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, and Thailand and held fan meetings with his foreign fans.

His second Japanese EP Heat, which was released in July, is drawing a lot of attention by selling over 200,000 copies so far.

He also ranked first on several music charts, including, MTV chart in Taiwan, mobile ringtone download chart, Amazon Japan MP3 download world chart.

He completed his foreign schedules with a grand finale performance at the Japanese Firework Festival on August 10.

Kim’s next big project will be shooting the TV series City Conquest. He will show off his manly charms by playing the role of a lead character named Baek Mir.

[Random] ‘K-pop’ Officially Enters the Oxford English Dictionary

It’s not official until the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) says so, and according to the prestigious dictionary, K-pop is.

The word ‘K-pop’ officially entered the OED in August, proudly defined as “Korean pop music: the band has a style that mixes European music and K-pop.”

Having begun in 1888, the OED is one of the oldest and most used English dictionaries in the world. The fact that ‘K-pop’ has now been entered into one of the 22,000 pages of the OED shows that K-pop has come a long way since its beginnings.

[NEWS] Kim Hyun Joong donates 50 million KRW in response to his fans’ charitable actions

Kim Hyun Joong has donated 50 million KRW (~ 44,300 USD) to the ‘Beautiful Foundation’ to help those in need.

Even while he was busy with his ‘Fan Meeting Tour 2012′ in 5 Asian countries, promotions for his Japanese single album ‘Heat‘, and his upcoming drama ‘City Conquest‘, he was moved by his fans’ actions and decided to make a contribution himself as well.

Kim Hyun Joong’s agency revealed, “When Kim Hyun Joong returned to Korea after concluding the fan meeting tour, he was touched greatly when he heard that one of his fan clubs donated 10 million KRW (~ 8,860 USD) to the ‘Summer Campaign for Senior Citizens Living Alone’. He wanted to show gratitude to his fans and wanted to help out as much as he can, and thus, decided to donate to the same foundation“. He continued, “Kim Hyun Joong stated that he wanted to support the elderly who are suffering from the heat, and the college students who are studying hard even in the midst of hardships. We hope that Kim Hyun Joong and his fans’ sincerity reached out to many people.”

30 million KRW dollars were donated towards the ‘Summer Campaign for Seniors Citizens Living Alone’, while 20 million KRW will be used for the ‘Kim Hyun Joong Scholarship’, which his fan club established for college students who have financial troubles.

Meanwhile, Kim Hyun Joong is busy filming for his upcomign drama ‘City Conquest’.

[NEWS] Kim Hyun Joong Gives Jung Yumi a Romantic Back Hug for “City Conquest

Earlier today, a romantic still of Kim Hyun Joong giving a back hug to Jung Yumi for upcoming drama “City Conquest” was released. As shown in the picture, Kim Hyun Joong hugs Jung Yumi and smiles gently, while she lightly leans on his right arm. With long wavy hair, Jung Yumi displayed her innocent and delicate beauty, different from her most recent antagonistic role in “Rooftop Prince,” which also starred JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun and Han Ji Min.

Netizens that have come across the picture commented, “They look like a real couple. They look so good together,” “Why am I so envious of Jung Yumi,” and “I want to see ‘City Conquest’ quickly.”

“City Conquest” has been busy filming in Japan since early July. The cast and crew are currently are filming in South Korea. Based on a Korean comic book, the story is about a man named Baek Mir (Kim Hyun Joong), who fights the corrupted society that destroyed his family.

The drama has yet to find a broadcasting station and time-slot to air the series but aims to air by the end of 2012.

Kim Hyun Joong and Jung Yumi, the main actor and actress of the new drama series City Conquest, created a romantic scene.

In a picture released on August 3, Kim is hugging Jung from behind and Jung is having a shy look on her face.

People responded: “They look like a real couple. They look good together.” “I envy Jung Yumi so much.” “Kim Hyun Joong is so romantic.” “I cannot sleep because of this picture.”

City Conquest, starring Kim Hyun Joong, Jung Yumi, Nam Goong Min, and Kim Seung Woo, had been successfully shot in Japan for fifteen days from July 10. More episodes of the series will be shot in and out of Korea.
