[NEWS] Kim Hyun Joong Conquers Nippon Budokan For Japan Fanclub Anniversary

Korean Singer and Actor Kim Hyun Joong celebrated his official FC HENECIA JAPAN 1^st anniversary and drama [City Conquest] Memorial Event at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on October 4.

In the audience were lucky HENECIA Japan (Kim Hyun Joong’s Japanese fanclub) members who won the highly competitive bid for admission tickets to the prestigious event. About 100 media were also invited to the event to witness the first promotion event of the upcoming Korean drama “City Conquest” starring Kim Hyun Joong and Jeong Yoo Mi.

After Kim Hyun Joong introduced himself and thanked his fans for the success of HENECIA Japan and the fanclub’s first anniversary, the main part of the event began which was the preview of the Korean drama “City Conquest”.

The preview event was comprised of 3 parts, viewing of the teaser trailer of the drama’s episode 1 and 2, talk session with Kim Hyun Joong (as Baek Mir), Jeong Yoo Mi (as Lee Dan Bi) and the producer Yang Yoon Ho, and showing behind-the-scenes footage (Martial Arts, Transformation, Acting, Scale and Adiau / 5 parts) of the drama filmed in Japan, back in July.

The audience watched the teaser trailers and behind-the-scenes video, as well as listened into the talk session with much interest and anticipation.

Kim Hyun Joong then capped the event with a live performance. The crowd at the Budokan were very alive — standing up, cheering and singing together during the performance.

After singing Creep in English, Kim Hyun Joong made an announcement as the MC mentioned there would be some special present from him. “In December…. Christmas will come…In December….In Japan….Christmas will come….” The audiences were longing to know what will happen in December. “In December, in Japan, My First Album will be released. I’m preparing for you all to like it, so please look forward to it”

With this announcement, everyone was elated and gasped, “Wow!!” and clapped their hands.

For the live performance, Kim Hyun Joong performed the following set list:

The whole event lasted about 2 hours and successfully ended with a lot of excitement and expectations for the drama and the 1^st album.

Below are excerpts from the talk session:

MC: This is HENECIA JAPAN 1^st Anniversary and drama [City Conquest] event today. Please greet your fans.

KHJ: HENECIA JAPAN 1^st anniversary, congratulations everyone. As we celebrate this anniversary, let us continue to our 100^th anniversary together, I will let you hear my good songs and see good acting, so please eat good food and take good medicine so that you can keep well till out 100^th.

After showing the trailer of the drama (the first few episodes includes romance between Mir and Dan Bi as kissing on boat scene was shown in the trailer.)

MC: Please tell us about your roles in this drama…

Yoo Mi: Well, before I talk about my role in this drama…I watched the trailer backstage before you watched it, I got worried, because I heard a lot of reaction….I thought the fans got angry and felt sorry.

MC: Is everyone angry? … Daijobu? (Was it ok?)

KHJ: Daijobu desu. Engi dakara. (It’s ok as it was just acting)

Yoo Mi: The role I act as Dan Bi is a person with very lively, straight forward with a lot of energy and heart. She really loves Mir the role Kim Hyun Joong-ssi acts, and trying to brighten up the darkness in his heart.

MC: …there are many hard action scenes in this drama, we saw you were on a motor bike, wasn’t it dangerous?

KHJ: This is the first action drama and I’m not used to it yet. I’m still learning but stunt men are trying hard, so it’s not that dangerous…..

During the talk session, they talked about the trailer shown (action, romance, transformation, roles, etc), about each other (KHJ, JYM and the producer) and it was apparent that they have very good and close relationship and enjoy filming this drama, even if it was challenging..

As the two dramas, “Fighter In the Wind” and “IRIS”, started filming initially in Japan and were successful, then this drama City Conquest having also started initial filming in Japan, so he thinks it will also go well.

The producer said that the filming will continue till early in 2013.

The role Kim Hyun Joong acts as Mir is a lot different from his past two dramas, “Boys Over Flowers” and “Playful Kiss.”

Hyun Joong shared that till now, he hasn’t shown who the real Kim Hyun Joong is, but acting as Mir in City Conquest made him think that they are quite close. In his daily life, he always thinks what Mir would do and hopes that the more the filming progresses,he would be able to master and reflect Mir’s character.

Through the upcoming drama “City Conquest”, viewers can look forward to see a different side of Kim Hyun Joong, one that is closer to his real self. The drama offers not only hard action but also some romance, laughter, and many other elements. Like fans in Japan, the rest of the world can anticipate watching “City Conquest” as well as Kim Hyun Joong’s first solo album in Japan.

Kim Hyun Joong had his 1 year anniversary fan meeting for his Japanese fanclub, ‘Henecia Japan‘ at the Nippon Budokan on October 4th.

In a statement, Key East Entertainment stated, “Kim Hyun Joong opened a ‘City Conquest‘ promotional event for his fanclub, ‘Henecia Japan’. It was a special event for the fans that have been waiting for him to make his return to the small screen. We provided highlight videos and things that happened during filming for the first time.” Ten thousand fans attended the event, and about 150 photographers fought to grab the best angle of the star.

Kim Hyun Joong said, “I’m always thankful for ‘Henecia Japan’ for supporting me all the time. I want to celebrate not just our first anniversary, but our 5 year, 10 year, and even 100 year anniversary. I’m going to stay healthy with good singing and acting. I also hope my fans stay healthy with good food and medicine.”

Kim Hyun Joong successfully finished the first anniversary event of his official Japanese fan club.

On 4th, Kim Hyun Joong had a memorial event in Tokyo to celebrate the first anniversary of his official Japanese fan club, and introduced highlight videos, and episodes of his new drama KBS 2TV ‘City Conquest’.

Approximately 10,000 local fans and local reporters filled up Budokkan to see Kim Hyun Joong, and even before the event began, the place was full of enthusiasm.

Kim Hyung Joong invited actress Jung Yoo Mi and director Yang Yoon Ho as special guests, and talked about the new drama.

More than anything, the highlight of the event was Kim Hyun Joong’s special performance. Kim Hyun Joong, who always has been showing quality sounds and fantastic performance, participated in rearranging his hit songs into band versions, and he impressed the fans with his amazing talent once again.

The entire work took about a month, and Kim Hyun Joong performed ‘Do you like that’, ‘Lucky Guy’, ‘HEAT’, ‘Merry Me’, and ‘I’m Your Man’.

Kim Hyun Joong closed up the event saying, “Thank you for those who are always there for me. I’d love celebrate endless anniversaries. I hope we will maintain our healthy relationship forever, and I’ll do my best to return with better music and better acting.”

On the other hand, Kim Hyun Joong’s new drama, ‘City Conquest’, is scheduled to premiere in early 2013.

After releasing various singles, Kim Hyunjoong is ready to release his first solo full length album in Japan in December.

Including many of his earlier released tracks, “Unlimited” is set to feature songs such as “Kiss Kiss”, “Lucky Guy”, “Heat”, “U”, “Let’s Party” and new Japanese tracks “Your Story”, “I’m Yours” and “Save Today” among others. The full tracklist will consist out of 14 songs.

“Unlimited” will be available in three different versions, including a CD only release and two limited editions. Limited edition A includes a DVD with the music video for “Your Story” while version B has a DVD with the music video for “Save Today”. Both DVD editions come with the making of from their respective music video.

“Unlimited” will be released on December 12th.

The upcoming drama ‘City Conquest’ broadcasting channel have been confirmed to be KBS2TV.

On October 5th, the drama City Conquest directed by Director Yang Yun-ho & written by Hwang Ju-ha, BnT News have contacted with the production company Media100, confirming the drama will be broadcasted in KBS2TV. ‘City Conquest’ is originally a comic series written by Shin Hyungbin turned into a drama, with the original comic series copies sold over more than 1,000 million and the popularity is still on the rise.

City Conquest which is expected to air on early 2013 in KBS2 depicts a story of battle in an illegal & dark society with the lead casts Baek Mir together with his beloved woman Danbi since young, the woman Tae Su-min who develops a loveline (with Baek Mir), and the man Cha Ji-ryong who only cares for only one woman (Danbi) , a melodramatic and action storyline revolving around the 4 characters that captures the eyes of the world.

The lead character in City Conquest, Baek Mir who have been casted by Kim HyunJoong from the very start, have also garnered many attentions from the overseas buyers, with the copyright sold approximately for 11.8billionKRW.

Kim Hyun Joong recently held an event to celebrate the first anniversary of his Japanese official fan club.

On October 4, Kim met over 10,000 fans at Budokan in Japan to celebrate the first anniversary of the fan club Henecia Japan.

At the event, Kim also introduced his TV series City Conquest, which he is currently working on.

Director Yang Yoon Ho and actress Jung Yoo Mi of the series attended the event as special guests to talk about the series.

They also had some time to talk to those in attendance about the series and Kim.

The digest version of the series and the making film were released for the first time at the event and received considerable attention.

The highlight of the event was Kim’s special performance. Kim rearranged his hit songs with a band and impressed the audience with the high quality sound and fantastic performances.

He made the audience wild with excitement by performing songs, including, “Do You Like That,” “Lucky Guy,” and “Heat.” His sweet ballads, including, “Marry Me” and “I’m Your Man” also captured the audience.

Kim made people laugh by saying, “I want to thank Henecia Japan members for always supporting me. I want to celebrate the fifth, tenth, and the hundredth anniversary with you. In order to do that, I will perform good songs and act well, and you stay healthy with good food and medicines.”

The series, which is starring Kim, will air on KBS in the first half of 2013.

In the past, beautiful female celebrities advertised cosmetics and naturally, sales were boosted. However, over the past few years, male stars have began flaunting their flawless complexions in cosmetic advertisements.

The streets of Myeongdong in Seoul are lined with numerous cosmetics stores. In front of each of these stores are life-size cardboard cutouts of the stars and if you look carefully, you’ll notice that most of them are male. It appears they chose the models appropriately as female fans wander from store to store in order to purchase face masks which feature the face of their favorite stars.

When former soccer star Ahn Jung Hwan, actors Ahn Jae Won and Hyun Bin began modeling for cosmetic brands it came as a big shock in the cosmetic industry because makeup models were exclusively female. Being a model for cosmetics used to be a good gauge in determining the popularity of a female star. But times have changed and the door has opened wide for male stars to enter into the cosmetics advertising industry.

Today, the majority of the male cosmetic models are singers, more specifically, idol stars. The more female fans you have as a male idol, the higher chance you have in being an advertisement model. Also, the brands that they represent are not high-end brands but rather “pharmacy”-like brands.

These male idol models include Kim Hyun Joong (The Face Shop), 2PM‘s Nichkhun (It’s Skin),TVXQ (Missha), Rain (Nature Republic), CNBLUE (Holika Holika/Olive Young), Lee Seung Gi (The Saem), JYJ (Tony Moly/Nature Republic) and F.T. Island (Baviphat). These are but a few of the male singers who are modeling or have modeled for cosmetics in the past. As for actors, Kim Soo Hyun(Beyond), Song Joong Ki (Tony Moly), Won Bin (The Shop), Jang Geun Suk (Nature Republic), andJung Il Woo (Holika Holika) are some of the names who have participated as cosmetic models.

The strategy for using male stars as marketing for women’s products has been highly successful. For instance, when actor So Ji Sub began modeling for the undergarment brand Vivien, requests for posters and calendars came flooding which in turn led to an increase in sales. Eventually, So Ji Sub’s contract was extended for one more year.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, female stars have been modeling for primarily male market products as well. Before, it was only male stars advertising alcoholic beverages, but today, it’s hard to see a male star advertising soju. Pushing the idea of “women you would like to have a drink with“, female stars including Moon Chae Won, SECRET, Shin Se Kyung, Lee Hyori, and Han Ga In are seen on various soju posters and print advertisement in every Korean eatery.
